Ordering a Commission
These are the steps involved in placing an order for a commission.

CONTACT
If you have a clear idea of what you want, great! Send me an email, and I will respond promptly about the specifics of your request and give you a quote if it's going to be more than the baseline price. If not, I'm happy to work with you to decide what will be best.
CREATION
I will need a reference of your pet - the closer to the pose and lighting of your portrait the better. Please see the next section about how to choose a reference photo.

Next I will send you a quick digital sketch to give you an idea of the portrait. We can discuss changes, and once approved, I'll send through the invoice. Once you pay the first half of the invoice, I will begin work.

You are welcome to request updates at any time. Traditional works, especially oil paintings, will take a longer time due to the nature of the media. I will try hard to keep you updated with progress.
COMPLETION
Once I finish your commission, I will send you a photo (or small image in the case of digital portraits), and you can pay the remainder of the invoice. Once that goes through, I will post the artwork or send links to the files to download. Postage will come with a tracking number that I will then give you.

Picking a Good Reference Image
It's important to have a good reference image when commissioning a portrait of your beloved pet. The less I need to improvise, the more like your pet it will be, and not just an artwork of your pet's breed!
1. Choose one in the pose you want
If I can't see what your pet looks like in the pose you want, it is difficult to create it. Sending multiple images might help with getting the patterns right, but it doesn't show the form of your pet in that pose which is an important part of their likeness.
2. The image must be clear and not blurry.
I can draw from an image with only a small part obstructed (such as from a leaf), as long as its not covering the face. Motion blur or out-of-focus images can't be used.

3. Images must be of a reasonable resolution.
It doesn't need to be high definition, but it shouldn't be pixelated. I can add some details in the fur, as long as the pet is still clear. Photos taken by a phone are usually fine.

4. Choose images that are at the pet's level.
Images that are taken from above are not useful, as the perspective has distorted your pet too much. I can't adjust this for you. Images have to be taken at roughly eye-level with your pet.

5. Daylight is the best light for a reference.
Artificial light makes your pet's colour change, and so for the best likeness, pick one taken in daylight. I will work to try make the lighting the best for the image given, but I will be basing your pet's colour on the image you send me.

Terms of Service
By commissioning me, you accept the terms listed here unless otherwise agreed upon.

I will post images of your portrait on my instagram (also appearing on facebook) and possibly here on my website. If you do not wish me to do so, please tell me when putting in your request.

I might not be able to accept your portrait. Reasons could include being too busy to get it done by the time you want, or if you do not have reference photos that are of workable quality. I do try hard to produce works from low-quality photos, and will look for references that are similar to your pet to show you, but if I can't see the animal properly then I won't be able to give you a quality portrait.

I can't change the portrait once I have started following the approval of the sketch. I may be able to make minor adjustments, however - these will not include poses, or structural features. I can't guarantee exact likeness if the reference image was low-quality or not in the same pose as the portrait. Please contact me if there is something you need changed, and we might be able to work it out.

You are welcome to ask for updates at any time.

Since your portrait is a custom piece, I can't offer refunds.

Shipping
I use Australia Post. Postage will depend on the size of your portrait, and if you want extras like insurance and signature on delivery.
Paintings will be sent in a sealed waterproof sleeve, with a firm cardboard insert to prevent bending. Only flat media (flat canvas, paper) can be posted. Art boards will differ, as they are heavier - I will give an estimate for each request.
Please note that I will require your phone number to post your portrait, as it is a requirement for tracking services. The only post that includes tracking is Express, and I will only send portraits with tracking.
